How To Make A Flaming Moe – DAPS Made and Tried The Simpsons’ Storied Cocktail

Have you ever wondered what was in the famous “Flaming Moe” from the classic season three episode of The Simpsons?

Last summer, DAPS, along with Don from Arangio Media set out to figure it all out. Then we tried it, children’s cough syrup and all.  In the video above, watch comedians Tim Duffy and Kevin Devlin join DAPS’ Carlo and Dave in making and trying the storied cocktail. How did we come up with our recipe? No, we didn’t make it up like some people on the internet.

We studied the episode frame by frame, and then took notes of which bottles of booze appear on screen (at least our best guesses as to what type of liquor each bottle represented)

Here’s what we came up with:

Flaming Moe Recipe

Because that’s not the best handwriting in the world, here’s what it says:

  • Tequila
  • Schnapps
  • Creme de Menthe
  • Red Wine
  • Jameson
  • Mailbu
  • Vodka
  • Bacardi (not listed, but we decided later that this is was there too)
  • Worshstistire (sp?) sauce
  • and ordinary every day Children’s Cough Syrup

Blend Cocktail, then light on fire.  No, we don’t have measurements. Homer and Moe didn’t either. Kevin is a trained bartender, so we left the whole thing up to him. If you can’t find a bartender, then ::shrugs::

BTW, be very very careful when you light it on fire. WARNING: DON’T LIGHT IT ON FIRE. Here’s Why…

Below, check out the screenshots we used to work out the recipe

Do you think we missed something? Did we add something that doesn’t fit? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook.

Oh, and we also almost set Tim on fire. Good times!
