Mario Paint Remixes: The Real Slim Shady and Getting Jiggy Wit It

A little while back I noticed there there was a subculture on YouTube that was posting Mario Paint versions of popular songs using midi files and emulators. There’s practically everything, ranging from Limp Bizkit all the way to Miley Cyrus.

Hopefully, you guys remember Mario Paint or I’m going on about this for nothing. Actually, for those of you who don’t know, check out this semi-informative commercial for Mario Paint from back in 1992.

Cool. We should all be caught up now.

Well, anyway, I thought it would be fun to see what it would be like to throw the studio a Capella track of the actual song being re-created over the MP version. For example, I took the a Capella version of Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” with only Em’s vocals, and layered it on top of a Mario Paint version of the song.

The results were pretty interesting. Sometimes it lines up, other times it didn’t at all. Either way it’s interesting to see.

Then just to be a stinker, I did the same for Will Smith’s “Getting Jiggy Wit It” as a sort of sequel, and just to see another song done in this format.

Now, if only someone with DJ skills took a stab at this…
