Sam and Niko of Corridor Digital Explain Why Most Action Scenes Suck

Making movies is hard. This is one of the main reasons why most people you know aren’t working on films for a living. One aspect of film-making that’s particularly hard is making a great action scene. Even people who do make movies as their career don’t always get it right. Sure, there are a lot of movies that have lots of action scenes, but many of them are confusing and uninteresting. Why? Well, that’s where Sam Gorski & Niko Pueringer of Corridor Digital come in.

Corridor Digital is a popular YouTube channel focusing on special effects created by Sam and Niko (and another dude named Jake). They also have a second channel, called “SamAndNiko” where they share behind the scenes stuff, making of stuff, and other videos that don’t specifically focus on VFX. Today, they uploaded a video (see above) explaining the difference between a good action scene and a bad one.

I’m glad they gave a lot of love to Edge of Tomorrow, which is a fantastic movie, especially if you’ve always wished that Groundhog Day was a futuristic sci-fi action flick. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend that you check it out.
