WATCH: A Supercut of Every Best Visual Effects Oscar Winner Ever (Up Until Now)

Best Visual Effects‘ is the Academy Awards category that’s most accessible to casual moviegoers. It’s the only category that regularly features film series like Harry Potter, The X-Men, The Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. It’s the only category that’s judged on the basis of “oh my god, how cool was that?!” That’s why I was pretty excited that supercut maestros at Burger Fiction have put together this compilation of every Best Visual effects winner from 1927’s Wings (not the sitcom) to 2015’s Ex Machina.

This is the third Academy Awards supercut put together by Burger Fiction. They’ve also made videos collecting all of the Best Picture and Best Cinematography nominees.

By the way …in case you’re wondering, the nominees for Best Visual Effects this year are:

  • Deepwater Horizon
  • Doctor Strange
  • The Jungle Book
  • Kubo and the Two Strings
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

This year’s Academy Awards will air on ABC, Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 8pm
